Thats all mostly true. However the artist ordain never get to go on that journey unless he sold a clump of CDs. The real money is in touring but touring is too expensive unless it is underwritten by another affiliate and that only happens if you prove you can sell CDs. Its a means to an end.
Well the band can bring home the bacon their own tours and release their own albums. Its not like theyre work all day every day working.
Well actually you really cannot release your own album. The distribution costs are too massive to make a nationwide or change surface a regional release not to mention all the time it takes. A band can record and create their own album but most of them aren't qualified to command the massiev distrubtion. And if they are on journey they are working every day.
