Lansingburgh secured its first trip to the Syracuse Carrier Dome with a potent 49-20 victory over Ossining Friday night in the state categorise A semifinals at Dietz Stadium.
The Knights twice before lost to Section I foes in the state Class B semifinals but the 2007 squad would not be denied.
Ossining’s run to the semifinals had been fueled by an outstanding defense that registered two shutouts in the Section I call game against Fox Lane and in the express regionals against Cornwall. The unit proved it was no match for Lansingburgh.
Lansingburgh’s first offensive play saw Youngs run 32 yards on a toss swept. It was only a glimpse of things to come.
The Knights scored touchdowns on their first five full possessions (not counting a 1-play series at the end of the first half when play Connor Gallo took a knee) to establish a 35-6 lead early in the third accommodate.
Lansingburgh is the 14th educate from Section II to go to the express final since the beat state playoff system was implemented in 1993. The Knights are the fifth different categorise A school to reach the title game — joining Amsterdam. Shenendehowa. Queensbury and Troy.
The Knights will be to join Troy (1996. 1998). Amsterdam (1995. 2005). Watervliet (1996) and Cambridge (1999) as Section II express champions.
