First of all a shout out to the always fun to read Mapgirl of. She on her blog today and I'd love to say thanks. If you haven't ever followed her blog it's worth a read. She focuses mainly on personal finance topics but she also covers enough of her other interests (such as fine arts and autism) that she is a lot more dimensional than many bloggers. Also if you live in the DC area following her blog can give you a lot of great ideas for activities to do. Mr. Dimes and I have been getting settled into our new duty station he reported to his command and I went to a base indoctrination course last week. I'm trying to make myself more available to update but we've been dealing with a financial predator. Not a predatory lender but a predatory landlord. The story has almost played itself out and it has provided a lot of valuable lessons which I will share with you and I'll also tell you which management company you should NOT do business with if you are ever stationed in Hampton Roads.

"Comment on SHOCKING: Kiplinger?s Pick for Best Personal Finance ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-16 02:13:21

A personal finance communicate dedicated to discussing such topics as budgeting asset allocation. 401K. IRA cash flow insurance financial planning portfolio management and other areas in personal finance. Two or three years ago choice for best personal finance blog wouldn’t have been a surprise. However this is 2007 and their choice of as the best personal finance blog in their November air doesn’t alter sense. I have nothing against PFBlog. In fact he was very helpful to me when I first started blogging back in 2004. However he lost interest in his blog and basically quit blogging for several months and only sporadically updates his blog now. Kiplinger dropped the roll on this one. There’s so many other exceed choices out there. Thanks to for the heads up on this one. Who is pfblog com? Perhaps Kiplinger don’t realise that things act on pretty quickly in the blogging world and that you can’t be the beat now if you don’t post now. I’m not sure how you should judge such an air but I can certainly think of at least a dozen contenders off the top of my head. Thankfully the pick was only one of a 100 “best of” picks they had listed so they don’t look so out of touch. Then again it makes you query how valid their recommendations for other items are. i’ll check it out anything remotely promoting you know what and i’ll undergo to move on i think i say modestly i’m a good resource on this personal finance web site thing - having been in the financial services biz from ‘79 - till retirement in 2004 proponent in you undergo to do this yourself undergo recommended financial websites to everyone who i thought could benefit since the web was born used to be at a site called suite101 com daily till they migrated to facebook com now i be at that one and this one imho one can get all the financial black and color info s/he needs anywhere on the web what i’ve had a be for over the years is answers to questions desire should i pay off my mortgage alter trasitional ira to roth and tax questions etc… PFBlog com was actually the first PF blog that I construe (and or found out about) while I found it to be a good resource my understanding of the definition of communicate is that it is UPDATED REGULARLY - so If kiplingers just called it the best PF website. I don’t think there would be much room to argue - They’ve definitely missed the mark on this one. PFblog was the first personal finance blog I ever open (coincidentally after reading about it in Kiplingers while sitting in the doctor’s office) but I undergo to agree with JLP that over the past year or so it has been quite a bore. Really ever since he moved to China the blog has been mostly irrelevant not to mention the lack of content over the past year. Other blogs that I regularly read and find to be better include remove Money pay. All Financial Matters. My Money Blog. Free Money Finance. Five Cent plate and Consumerism Commentary. Keep up the good bring home the bacon people. Even though PFBlog has definitely change state more infrequently updated it’s still the most important communicate on my Google homepage for one very subjective cerebrate and one cerebrate only - it inspires the heck out of me. He keeps plugging away believes in his goal and makes a crazy be of money at least by my standards. As far as daily reads. I most definitely agree that there is more up-to-date content out there but then again who here limits his/her self to just one communicate? Interesting that the place you mentioned is the ‘beat’ when I had never heard of it. Guess I need to check it out. PFBlog com was the first place I commented on remove Money Finance. I took him kind of to assign as I recall. Why doesn’t Kiplinger’s just come up with a “Top 100 PF Blogs” article? Then we’d ALL be happy!! Ok. Here are the results. But what you have to do now is compete for the best without thinking about what somebody else evaluate about your blog. XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" title=""> <abbr call=""> <acronym call=""> <b> <blockquote have in mind=""> <label> <em> <i> <touch> <strong> AllFinancialMatters DOES NOT necessarily recommend the following products/services: | | |Visit MortgageLoanPlace com for info on. Its easy to to family. - sight the alter credit card to conform to you with our guide to the right separate in the UK. - 3 easy steps to analyse over 200 secured loan plans for UK home owners in minutes. - are you looking for a ascribe separate in the UK? "Track Your Purchases As They Happen at Xpenser" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 20:28:18

Track your spending via SMS email. IM or voice (via ) with web application Xpenser. After you sign up you'll need to set up your account with your IM and SMS information and set up Jott to use with Xpenser (if you want to do express tracking). After you're all set up adding expenses to a report (you can create any be of reports and set a default for new additions) is as simple as for example texting something like "exp lunch 35.4 with Jack. Jill" to Xpenser. If you've ever had trouble keeping up with your expenses for the month especially if you need to track your business expenses. Xpenser aims to be a simple universally accessible solution for getting your expenses recorded as soon as they happen (it's like a super-charged version of my ). I like to manage finances manually. It has an AIM bot that you can send expenses/incomes to via instant communicate as well as a number you can text to as well. However I love Wesabe more as it makes personal finance a more social atmosphere and is smarter/more automatic (smart learning for tags depreciate names etc.) and is a good source for social financial information (groups on how to check monthly spending or tips saying "you can get produce cheaper at store x than hold on y" etc.) Xpenser looks like an innovative addition to other online expense trackers. I still don't conclude comfortable tracking all of my purchases thus financial data online at a remote server on a site that could possible shut-down mouth charging (They say always free @ the core...) or sell my data to marketers. Iffy business. I am however impressed that they are called "Xpenser" not "Xpensr" yet still not "Expenser" because it is too close to yet another "." Whatever has a web space available I guess. Expensr actually seems like the best one out of these. I took a tour of all the site mentioned above and found it and ClearCheckBook to be the best two. Xpensr really doesn't seem to have a lot of tools unless they are hiding them from their journey video (which is stupid and would make me think twice about signing up) while the rest seem to undergo a lot more to offer. Also both Expensr and ClearCheckBook have import options for you to move your bank data in bulk so you don't undergo to "manually" insert all your data. I'm sure create from raw material is a very professional service but the problem I (and many others) have with automatic services is that you're at risk of exposing sensitive information since you provide them with your login info. That's why I don't mind the "manual".

"Any suggestions on an industry superannuation fund, that provides ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-01 22:17:23

Hi JustinThere a plenty of funds that meet that criteria. Probably all modern superannuation funds accept salary free. As I am a financial adviser I can't directly name a finance here for legal compliance reasons. So here are some tips to help you. I have written a schedule teaching people how to decide a great finance using exactly the same affect an adviser uses. analyse it out at: http://findre com au/super-choice-book html as it may be helpful. Why undergo you narrowed your search to industry funds? Is it because you have been influenced by the "Compare The unify" ads being run by industry funds? If so there are retail funds that are equally low be as industry funds. Plus the same retail funds are often more flexible and higher performing. So the key is to get great advice from an adviser who is not aligned to a product provider (and who also rebates commission). If you do the above you'll get a better retirement outcome than just finding any industry fund. But if you really be an industry finance then you can sight a list of major funds on their website at www industryfunds com auGood luck on your search,Matt
