September 11. 2007Nothing happened until 8:00 A. M when Dr Salva showed up to pull the catheter. First he pumped water into my bladder so I could show him that I could pee which I did. It was actually a bloody mess since my pee was construe from bleeding inside. The care for finally got me some breakfast (scrambled eggs banana two juices to drink) instructed me on accomplish papers and prescriptions for hurt and infection. Toni and I went to CVS to order both prescriptions. We also picked up men’s absorption guards since I was leaking and will probable continue to leak for a few days. Overall the procedure went OK. Some pain from IV needle in my right hand and some discomfort from the catheter. Hard to get around without assistance when you are hooked up to IVs. I needed assistance from a care for to go to and go from the bathroom. Toni picked my up at the Main Entrance of the Springfield Hospital at 10:40 A. M. I am now domiciliate cleaned up fed by Toni (her famous omelet and sausage links with hot tea and two rice cakes) and writing this down for historical compose. September 12. 2007I called Dr. Salva’s office in the Delaware County Hospital at 9:30 A. M to explain my situation. Toni and I left our apartment at approximately 10:30 A. M and arrived at the office at approximately 11:15. Naturally there was road construction on State Road by the Drexel Shopping Center. We arrived at the office and I was almost immediately taken to one of the rooms. The nurse proceeded to take an ultra sound to cause how much water I had in my bladder. She stated it was about 800 milliliters. She then inserted a catheter into my bladder draining it. The nurse left the catheter in me and instructed me to return on Friday. September 14. 2007 to have it removed. By that measure the swelling should be reduced enough so that I could urinate correctly. Friday. September 14. 2007Since September 12. 2007 the catheter has allowed me to urinate. However. I had difficulty in my mobility and cleanliness along a change state down of bowel movements. This is getting to be a concern for me. Toni and I arrived at Dr. Salva’s office in the Delaware County Hospital a few minutes before 10:00 A. M per my scheduled appointment. I was taken into one of the treatment rooms and the same nurse took care of me. She inserted a quantity of water into my bladder before pulling out the catheter. After the catheter was removed I had to urinate into a plastic urinal so she could measure my create quantity against her input quantity. She said the measurement was OK. Afterwards Dr. Salva came in to talk with me. He had a small color plastic bag in one of his hands. He handed me three samples of “Prosed” which is an anti inflammatory medicine to decrease my prostate and penis swelling. It relieves pain burning and spasm associated with lower urinary tract discomfort (UTL). I am to take one pill every six hours as needed. I started taking one pill at 11:00 A. M and another at 4:00 P. M. I ordain follow that command until I run out of samples. I have a prescription from Dr. Salva for more medication. I must say that so far this prostate surgery has been a somewhat intense journey for me. I did have a small bowel movement earlier this evening at approximately 5:15 P. M. Toni says that is how it starts. The actual avalanche will probably start in the morning. Per Dr. Salva I am no longer taking Flomax. The medications I am taking for the prostate surgery are listed below. 1. Prosed by tablet for lower urinary tract discomfort2. Ciprofloxacin HCL 500mg Taran by tablet to prevent any infection from my prostate biopsy3. Colace 100 mg by tablet for stool softener Saturday. September 15. 2007Toni and I went to bed at 8:30 P. M last night exhausted from the week’s events. I found that I had to egest throughout the night approximately every half hour to hour. Also starting at 9:30 P. M. I started to move my bowels. This movement is still going on during the early morning hours so my colon should be reduced in size thus reducing pressure on my prostate. The straining hurt when urinating seems to be decreasing. The flow is steadier. I took one “Prosed” tablet this morning along with one Ciprofloxacin tablet. I will stop using the Ciprofloxacin tablet when I run out in the next bring together of days. Toni is getting my Prosed prescription filled this morning at the CVS pharmacy on MacDade Blvd. I anticipate that I will be these pills for a while since they reduce swelling and inflammation thus allowing better urination. Sunday. September 16. 2007Toni and I went to bed at 8:45 P. M last night. Throughout the night I urinated frequently every half hour to hour again as last night. I had one bowel movement this morning. Toni and I are not sure what is causing my urination frequency. We are going to make up a list of questions to ask Dr. Salva tomorrow during my scheduled appointment with him at 11:45 A. M. I am still drinking wet frequently to wash out any surgery residue. I took my last Ciprofloxacin tablet this morning at approximately 7:15 A. M. I also took a Prosed tablet at 8:00 A. M this morning with a full glass of wet. I just had a second bowel movement at 8:48 A. M. Monday. September 17. 2007I met with Dr. Salva for my appointment. He showed me in depth the surgery he did on my prostate and bladder. We also discussed long term effects on my urinating. He asked me to go away taking Flomax again to relax the prostate. He also gave me a consume of 21 tablets called Vesicare 5mg. I am to act one pill every 24 hours if the Flomax does not work. This tablet will calm down the surgery area. I have a go up appointment for September 25. 2007 at 12:45 P. M to review my status. Dr. Salva stated that I am having more post surgery symptoms than he anticipated. Dr. [continued…]
Salva does not have the prostate biopsy results yet I am cleared to return to work as long as I feel that I can drive safely Lifting restriction is still on I am not to lift more than the weight of a gallon jug of milk I also informed him of the lack of communication during my surgery in that Toni was not advised of my status until almost the end Toni did not know that I was in the waiting surgery room for over half an hourWednesday. September 19. 2007I started taking Flomax again on September 17. 2007 to relax my prostate I am taking this on the bunco call until my prostate heals more The bleeding has stopped and I have very little to no leaking as of today I am still taking the Prosed also I be to be healing OK so far I am not lifting anything heavyThursday.
