Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Chris Grayling will today unveil proposals requiring primary school parents to seek a job of up to 20 hours a week." -
Mortgage lenders complain at old Tory policies after Cameron encourages "social responsibility"
"The [Council of Mortgage Lenders] replied by lecturing the Conservatives on their “policy mistake” of cutting mortgage assistance benefits in the 1990s. A statement said that the Tories should consider addressing the “woefully inadequate level of state support” for struggling homeowners after cuts made in 1995 to income support for mortgage interest." -

He told the BBC that banks and building societies should consider tapering the rise in mortgage payments as well as giving advice to customers and switching some to interest-only loans to prevent a boom in mortgage arrears and repossessions." -

The EUReferendum has an interesting piece (read the last two paragraphs below) on the Dan Hannan article in today's Telegraph in which Hannan points out that we have only ourselves to blame for not getting our promised referendum.
" But of course. Hannan is right – damn him! Collectively it is down to us. There is a very simple answer. We simply refuse to vote for any Party unless or until it commits to withdrawing us from the EU and restoring our nation to its rightful owners – the people. If enough people do not care about that though and continue to vote the monkeys into power then we – as a collective – only have ourselves to blame".
My informants tell me that Ken Clarke was spitting rage at Dan Hannan this evening at a Hansard Society meeting for claiming most of our laws emanate from the EU. Ken,who said he'd never bothered to read the Maastricht Treaty reckons MPs should read all new treaties. Cameron's reliance on Ken tells us all we need to know. Cameron is clearly in favour of the new reform treaty;if not he'd tell us wouldn't he??????
Can somebody tell me when the triumvirate of the Treasury,FSA and the Bank of England will look into the simple matter of how banks invested in worthless assets. Let us cut through the crap and establish who conned who. Lets bring off balance sheet financing back on page--------and that applies to gutless bottleless Gordon and PFIs too. To me sub prime has become another stealth tax on Joe Public's investments.
